It never ceases to amaze me how people just casually use the term 'Jehovah's People' as though there is even the tiniest shred of confirmable evidence that he chose any people at all.. that this group of cultists are the one's that he actually chose.. when one of their deranged leaders snatched some random scripture from a book written thousands of years ago by who knows who and bestowed it upon themselves..
If that's not the most nutty, presumptuous, delusions act of self self-aggrandising blind arrogance I really don't know what is

I agree with what GodZoo said. ^^^^^If God really had chosen them as his people, why would he allow the worst crime known to man (except murder) to be committed against innocent children thousands of times by his people? -

Is the term "worldly" outdated?
by A.proclaimer inyesterday i had to listen to the co from a spanish congregation on the phone.
he said the fds has been gradually moving away from the word "worldly" and teaching jws not to use the term anymore.
has anyone heard this in their congregation or heard the term "non-believers" used before?

It doesn't seem outdated, as I still hear jw's use the term. I am still referred to as 'worldly' by some of my husband's family. I was so naive back in the day, I didn't realize it was a derogatory term. I remember when I was introduced some would ask what congregation I was in and my sister-in-law would answer for me and say 'she's not in the truth, she's in the world'. Once I figured out it was meant as a criticism I hated the term

The story of my exit
by mrsObfuscate ini have been lurking here for about 6 months, and being the last day of the year, and ready to start the new one afresh, i want to share the story of our exit from the org.
i have found the personal experiences of others of immeasurable value, (and its been a while since a good exit story has been posted) that i hope this can be of benefit to at least someone.. .
my mother became a jehovahs witness when i was about 9 or 10. i remember initially hating all of the new sanctions put on our lives (no birthdays and christmas anymore) but for some reason i soon after joined her in attending the meetings and eventually got baptized at the age of 14. my staunch catholic father converted a couple of years later.

The late great Robin Williams with Nathan Lane in Birdcage
Armand: I'm sweating like some kind of farm animal!
and
Armand: All right, I'll bite, where are you going?
Albert: To Los Copa.
Armand: Los Copa? There's nothing in Los Copa but a cemetery.
Albert: I know, that's why I'm packing light.
Armand: Oh I see, so you're going to a cemetery with your toothbrush...... How Egyptian.
Hilarious movie - recommend watching if you're in the mood for lots of laughs. Williams and Lane are brilliant together

Happy Veterans Day! (America)
by freemindfade inpeople have varied and strong feelings about politics and wars, but you can't deny the courage a sacrifice of our veterans.
too often they do not get the honor they deserve.
in this country once they come home their sacrifice and heroism is too quickly forgotten.

I can only convey how my Dad felt on this subject, as I have no other family members in the military. When my Dad was drafted in WWII he was very young (20 I think) and he was very scared to be going up against the nazi's. Despite his fear, he went to Italy to do what he could to help. In fighting the nazi's he felt he was doing his part to help the world. Who can even imagine what would have happened had there been no Allies to stop the nazi's? -

Love hearing stories like this. So glad you and your family had such a special day. Wishing your grand daughter a lifetime of happy b-days!
So stupid that the gb tells kids that it makes jah sad when kids have fun celebrating their b-days.

Since my Dad was such a good skier he was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division when he was drafted in WWII. He spent time skiing in the Italian Alps. Although the conditions were still pretty tough and very cold, he was always grateful for his assignment. A big thank you to all the veterans! -

How To Test a J.W.'s Loyalty/Stupidity
by The Searcher in"would you do absolutely anything which the governing body instructed you to do?
for example, sell your home and possessions, move in with another witness, and send all your money to the org?".
if 'no', they're showing that they will pick and choose which org directives they will follow.

Not too long ago my husband entered the room I was in and announced "yes, I will drink the kool-aid" and then walked out. I was surprised obviously and I had no idea why he said it. Although the subject has come up before, we hadn't spoken of religion for weeks. He had been on the phone a lot that week with his siblings (the uber jw ones) so I assume the subject came up. Strange though, I didn't think jw's would ever talk about possibly receiving that direction from the gb, since it such a cult sign. His siblings are pushing really hard to get him back in. It's so sad cause he is miserable and doesn't see why. He's been basically inactive (only attended random meetings and memorial) for over 20 yrs and he was so much happier then. We had a normal life for many years. He claims now that he was never happy with what I "talked" him into doing. I beg to differ as I have pictures of him wearing a santa hat passing out gifts and he has a big smile on his face. He also used to love to decorate the outside of the house with lights, etc. -

Can you be married, live in the same house and be lonely? Yes!
I agree. In my house it is for the same reason as yours. Once I told my spouse I had no interest in being a jw I was tattled on and thrown under the bus. It got ugly!
Do you have any non-jw family? Would there be any way you could re-connect with some of the friends you used to have? It may take awhile to develop the close friendship that you seek, however, it is worth the effort! I have a friend that I can confide anything in. I will always have her back and she will always have mine. The friendship is not conditional on the two of us agreeing on religion.

One Year Later - A Thank You to Tony Morris.
by cappytan indear anthony morris, iii:.
i wanted to send you a note of "thanks" on this special day.. why is this day special, you may ask?
one year ago today, you, tony, woke me up to the fact that the governing body could not have jehovah's blessing or direction.. last year, on november 8th & 9th, 2014, the united states branch visit was broadcast to over 1,000,000 jehovah's witnesses across the country.. as i sat at the kingdom hall listening to the "historic occasion," i was ignoring certain doubts that had surfaced in the few months prior.

I've read in the past that this was a wake-up call for many. I wonder if he has any idea how many have left in part due to what he said that day? Do you suppose he regrets it?
Congrats to you, Cappytan for exiting with your family. Hope you're loving your new life!!
